The Town Hall

In the 500 years of its existence, the Lüneburg Town Hall has become one of the most beautiful buildings in northern Germany. This fine building is a stone chronicle of the city's history. Several, actually selfcontained construction phases have grown together over time to create a unique ensemble.

The Water Tower

The water tower is the most impressive document early industrial architecture, in the Lüneburg downtown. 1906/7 the Luneburg Water Tower was built on the remains of the medieval ramparts.

Monastery Lüne

The Monastery Lüne with Gothic buildings from the 15th & 16 Century is rich in important art treasures that testify life, work and trade in former times. In the corresponding Textile Museum the products manufactured by the Benedictine nuns and Protestant Lüner canonesses can be admired, as far as they are left over the centuries the monastery.

German Salt Museum

A visit of the German Salt Museum is very worthwhile. It is located on the former site of the Saline, where salt was raised from 956 to 1980. From a 230 million year old rock salt over the vivid presentation of the ancient salt roads up to the show-salt boiling in old lead pans visitors can experience history here.

East Prussian Regional Museum Lüneburg

The East Prussian Regional Museum is the only museum in Germany that broaches the issue of the rich culture and history of the former province of East Prussia in its entirety.

Brewery Museum

The “Kronen” brewery was first mentioned in documents in 1485. From once more than 80 breweries in Lüneburg on the day of her 500 anniversary the “Kronen” brewery was already the last here in town. Today original brew kettles, fermentation boilers and malt mills can be visited in the former brewhouse. Based on the original exhibits, the whole process of brewing is illustrated to the visitor.
